Over the course of the 13 minutes that police abused Tyre Nichols, they kept shouting commands at him that were all simply impossible.

Among the accusations being made about the officers in the case is that they intentionally shouted commands at Nichols he couldn't comply with and then punched him for not complying. According to a New York Times analysis of a video that recorded the beating that lead to his death, there were 71 commands over the course of 13 minutes.

I know one thing, I'm glad they also charged these motherfuckers with kidnapping because that is essentially what they did in executing his homicide.

You are not allowed to be yoked out of the car upon stopping. In many states you do not even have to exit your vehicle if not being arrested. And if they wanted to arrest him they have to inform him of doing so before he exits the vehicle if he doesn't want to get out. Usually officers will say, "can you please step out of your vehicle"

These piece of shit scumbags were probably roided up or drugged up. If justice is served for all the charges they have been hit with, they will spend life in prison. I don't believe in the death penalty but in the states that have it, this crime should warrant it.

by Anonymousreply 1January 30, 2023 9:14 PM

So glad the cops weren't white or the cities would be burning.

I personally think Tyre was on the spectrum, on drugs- or both. He simply did not process anything they were saying to him. He just acted like it was a wilding or gang rape.

Accounts of him obsessively skateboarding as a teen are a hint. We get these young men around where I work because of the architecture, and they are always oddballs. You warn them to go away and they come right back. Even in the dark.

This enraged the cops. You do not want to get hit by a black man. You will see stars before you pass out.

"Usually officers will say, "can you please step out of your vehicle"

Unless... the person is weaving around in traffic and ignoring all attempts to pull him over (one cop said Tyre almost ran into his cruiser). Then refuses to exit the vehicle on his own. Then cops go full SWAT team, screaming and shouting and yanking.

Is 'Tyree' a French name?

by Anonymousreply 5January 30, 2023 11:55 PM

He lived a very modest life of modest routines. I can't imagine how all those cops read the situation so incorrectly.

by Anonymousreply 6January 31, 2023 12:25 AM

Who is the asshole around here who accuses everyone of being autistic? Or “on the spectrum”?

You have absolutely zero medical training, so STFU.

by Anonymousreply 8January 31, 2023 12:49 AM

[quote]I don't believe in the death penalty but in the states that have it, this crime should warrant it.

Then you do believe in the death penalty.

by Anonymousreply 9January 31, 2023 12:50 AM

R8 Don't you know that autism is now considered a desirable asset.

by Anonymousreply 10January 31, 2023 12:51 AM

Two more cops placed on leave.

Hemphill is quite the porker.

Well? This does seem odd.

“ It certainly begs the question why the white officer involved in this brutal attack was shielded and protected from the public eye, and to date, from sufficient discipline and accountability.”

by Anonymousreply 12January 31, 2023 1:16 AM

The attack on Tyre was brutal and unjustified but the idea of compliance with police officers seems to be more and more alien to people these days.

Comply! That gets half of the problem resolved from the get go.

by Anonymousreply 13January 31, 2023 1:42 AM

Bless your heart, r13. Why , you're just a regular Heloise...

by Anonymousreply 14January 31, 2023 1:46 AM

Did you read the article? Or watch the videos?

“ Over the course of the 13 minutes that police abused Tyre Nichols, they kept shouting commands at him that were all simply impossible.”

The guy was clearly trying to comply, but they just attacked him.

by Anonymousreply 15January 31, 2023 2:00 AM

He could have complied before the so-called impossible commands started.

by Anonymousreply 16January 31, 2023 2:24 AM

R2 what in the world would possess you to make such presumptive conclusions. He was probably terrified and being tased can make the body have involuntary reactions, and physiology be fucked up. Tasing is worst when your mad skinny.

by Anonymousreply 17January 31, 2023 2:45 AM

R3 you are taking the word of a cop who committed murder. The city cameras say otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 18January 31, 2023 2:46 AM

R5, Maybe. But its a common black name.

by Anonymousreply 19January 31, 2023 2:47 AM

R8, Is it one same poster? I've noticed that too. If so they usually apply it to right wing lunatics. Which is VERY disrespectful to autistics and auspies.

by Anonymousreply 20January 31, 2023 2:49 AM

The entire police department should get the death penalty.

by Anonymousreply 21January 31, 2023 2:54 AM

[quote] Who is the asshole around here who accuses everyone of being autistic?

They didn't do it in this thread, did they?

If you're upset by some assertion here, you should speak out at the time in the right thread. It's useless complaining about some unknown person later in another thread because, as I said earlier, autism is now considered a desirable asset amongst some people, especially the Upper-Middle Class Woke.

by Anonymousreply 22January 31, 2023 2:57 AM

Dude, it was the second fucking post.

by Anonymousreply 23January 31, 2023 3:00 AM

R21 You sound as though you have issues.

I have had some brushes with the law over minor issues. I have learned that it's better to comply with police, attend court and the ARGUE with the magistrate (who's dispassionate, impartial and educated).

It isn't sensible to ARGUE with the police (who are usually harried, overworked and do not want to lose face in a public setting).

by Anonymousreply 24January 31, 2023 3:02 AM

I believe that the cops thought they turned off the video and were only recording audio. THAT is the reason their words didn't match their actions. They KNEW they were recording exculpatory evidence for a future lawsuit. They didn't count on management putting in dummy kill switches. Add evidence tampering to the list.

by Anonymousreply 25January 31, 2023 3:04 AM

There’s no way they can do that and there’s no switch to do that (dummy or not).

JFC.

If they really wanted to not have video rolling all they would have to do is “zip up their coat.”

by Anonymousreply 26January 31, 2023 3:12 AM

Those are some sick f ing cops. And no riots because he wasnt senselessly killed by white cops. Talk about a troubled double standard.

by Anonymousreply 27January 31, 2023 3:13 AM

What kind of name is Tyne?

by Anonymousreply 29January 31, 2023 3:33 AM

R25 I think you are right my friend. My close relative who works for the Justice Department has told me something similar. And when I say close I mean nuclear family, though I can't reveal more cuz I have already gotten too biographical on this site at other times.

by Anonymousreply 30January 31, 2023 3:40 AM

R30 I'm sure your close relative at the Justice Department would agree with the sensible advice given at R24.

by Anonymousreply 31January 31, 2023 8:20 AM

The "put your hand behind your back" while PURPOSEFULLY twisting/holding the suspects arm in a way making it hard/impossible to put it behind their back is the new "stop resisting."

It's a bullshit technique merely for them have heard on tape so they can claim the suspect was resisting, when, of course, it was the cop who was making it impossible to comply.

Police are legally only allowed to use reasonable force. There is no reasonable excuse for the way the cops treated that man. He was never a danger to them or anyone else. A badge is not a license to brutalize and kill.

by Anonymousreply 33January 31, 2023 12:07 PM

Five of them should have managed to cuff him when he was on the ground. Either they were making it impossible for him to do so or they were just incompetent. The pepper spray suggests incompetence.

Five nasty men looking for a way to vent their frustrations. One of humans' biggest weaknesses is pack mentality, people doing things in a group that they would never do on their own. Five cops apprehending three violent thugs acting out is one thing. But to pull some guy out of his car when he's almost home?

by Anonymousreply 34January 31, 2023 12:36 PM

[quote]Five of them should have managed to cuff him when he was on the ground.

This is one of the many parts of the story I don’t get. If this guy was 6’5” and built like a shit brickhouse, maybe they would need more, but how can 5 cops not subdue one guy who was already on the ground? And there were more than 5 cops there, so that’s not even a good excuse.

One on the left leg, one on the right leg holding those down; one on the right arm, one on the left arm bringing those behind his back; one to actually place the handcuffs on.

by Anonymousreply 35January 31, 2023 3:31 PM

Again, no one is going to destroy their career, their life and freedom for the thrill of kicking someone's ass. It was not pre-planned or deliberate.

The cops hit too hard. He died. Oops.

by Anonymousreply 36January 31, 2023 3:46 PM

What's it like to live in the land of make-believe, r36?

by Anonymousreply 37January 31, 2023 4:01 PM

His “land of make believe” certainly beats the land of make believe where people think someone was able to get 7 cops together to beat the shit out of someone because he slept with one of their wives. All while body cams were running and putting it out over the air.
