Pee Wee Herman Died

I'll whack off at an Oppenheimer screening in his honor. Poor guy, whacking off changed his life forever. See if you can time your climax with the Trinity test, OP. That would truly be Art. Incredibly shocking, had no idea he was 70 already.

Incredibly shocking, had no idea he was 70 already.

by Anonymousreply 6July 31, 2023 6:02 PM

Aww, RIP. I will always remember how hilarious he was on Murphy Brown. I felt so sorry for him and the public humiliation he had to endure. He didn't harm anyone, didn't do anything wrong.

by Anonymousreply 7July 31, 2023 6:02 PM

As I recall, the Florida cop wrote him up for “Masterbating”.

by Anonymousreply 8July 31, 2023 6:05 PM

“Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”

by Anonymousreply 9July 31, 2023 6:06 PM

RIP Pee Wee, you will always be hilarious to me.

by Anonymousreply 10July 31, 2023 6:07 PM

Op you will have lots of time to do any number of things while watching that long winded boring ass movie

by Anonymousreply 11July 31, 2023 6:10 PM

Everyone should rub one out in a theater in his honor tonight. ;)

by Anonymousreply 12July 31, 2023 6:11 PM

This one is so shocking. I had no idea he was sick.

by Anonymousreply 13July 31, 2023 6:12 PM

Oh no, not right after Sinead. My heart aches. RIP Paul, you witty talented charming man. 😢

by Anonymousreply 15July 31, 2023 6:14 PM

RIP, Pee Wee. I will have a shot of tequila tonight in your honor. If I have enough shots, I will don a pair of platforms and do the dance.

I thought he died years ago.

by Anonymousreply 18July 31, 2023 6:18 PM

He was amazing in Dunston Checks In with Faye Dunaway.

by Anonymousreply 19July 31, 2023 6:19 PM

I hope he died without too much suffering...although his protracted death scene in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" was the best part of the movie.

by Anonymousreply 20July 31, 2023 6:19 PM

He was a man for all times.

by Anonymousreply 21July 31, 2023 6:21 PM

I’ve watched the video of Paul Reubens peeing on me 5 times today. I’m so fucking sad he was such a great guy :(

by Anonymousreply 22July 31, 2023 6:22 PM

This was surprise. RIP Paul, you made me laugh which was nice.

As you get older these make more impact on you....

by Anonymousreply 23July 31, 2023 6:22 PM

He was quite vain and was one of the first to use digital de-aging in Pee-Wee's Big Holiday.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 24July 31, 2023 6:23 PM

Well this one certainly did, R23.

Tina, Tony and Sinead weren’t a complete surprise, but this was one of OUR weirdos.

by Anonymousreply 25July 31, 2023 6:24 PM

Perfectly stated, r25.

I hope we find out what kind of cancer it was.

by Anonymousreply 27July 31, 2023 6:30 PM

Pee Wee was such a well-drawn character. I’m still kind of amazed it was such a hit with mainstream audiences, because it was so weirdly child-like and kind of gay. It just worked.

I remember when PEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE came out and what a sensation it was everywhere… back when that used to happen with movie blockbusters. Everyone wanted to see it and everyone was quoting it and talking about it. They still do!

by Anonymousreply 28July 31, 2023 6:32 PM

[quote]I hope we find out what kind of cancer it was.

Why?

by Anonymousreply 29July 31, 2023 6:32 PM

[quote] I hope we find out what kind of cancer it was.

It was the kind that kills you, you dumb bitch.

by Anonymousreply 30July 31, 2023 6:34 PM

R29, I’m not the previous poster but it’s human nature to wonder why and what exactly— most of us like to be able to cross something off our list of terminal threats, or at least figure our own odds, even when we really loved the person.

by Anonymousreply 31July 31, 2023 6:36 PM

When he got to the Pearly Gates, he said, "I'm supposed to be sure to tell you Marge sent me."

by Anonymousreply 32July 31, 2023 6:37 PM

Damn it I fucked that up @ R32 - meant to say Large Marge.

by Anonymousreply 33July 31, 2023 6:38 PM

He will see his friend Phil Hartman again.

by Anonymousreply 35July 31, 2023 6:42 PM

R27 why is that important. Creepy.

by Anonymousreply 36July 31, 2023 6:42 PM

This is shocking and sad. Seventy seems so young. I always hated what happened to him and hope people who report about his death remember him for more than the theater incident. RIP.

by Anonymousreply 37July 31, 2023 6:43 PM

He was a very cool person. He went to high school with my best friend, and when she found out he was arrested over nothing, she started defending him. He was a very loved person in his local friend group in the town where he grew up. When my friend that defended him died, he was at her funeral. I’m super sad that he’s gone, but I know he is in a better place

by Anonymousreply 40July 31, 2023 6:46 PM

Bye, Pee-Wee! You were a fun part of my childhood. I appreciate it.

by Anonymousreply 44July 31, 2023 6:55 PM

Pee-Wee's Playhouse was so inventive and fun. A breath of fresh air at a time when most Saturday morning cartoons had become very commercialized and uninspired. Loved it.

I hope Pee-Wee is doing the Big Shoe Dance in heaven.

by Anonymousreply 45July 31, 2023 6:57 PM

Connect the dots la la la

by Anonymousreply 46July 31, 2023 7:00 PM

Aww, say it ain't so Pee Wee.

I know you are, but what am I?

by Anonymousreply 47July 31, 2023 7:01 PM

This is sad. He was a huge part of my childhood. I never like a lot of the stuff that was put out there for kids but he was different

by Anonymousreply 49July 31, 2023 7:03 PM

He was kinda like the B-52's in capturing that late mid-century thrift store kitsch capitalist flotsam chic better than anyone. It's an important mood to have captured, with so many people of that time gone too soon already.

by Anonymousreply 50July 31, 2023 7:03 PM

adored. My dream was to put him, Iggy Pop, Rupaul and John Waters in a winebago and just let them go wild across the country as a reality show.

by Anonymousreply 51July 31, 2023 7:03 PM

This terrible news I had no idea he was ill. He was a brilliant person and his light dimmed too soon.

RIP Paul 😢 😭

by Anonymousreply 56July 31, 2023 7:09 PM

Thsi makes me feel so old. RIP Paul Reubens. You were a kind soul.

by Anonymousreply 57July 31, 2023 7:10 PM

Been a fan since his HBO show. Was a theater manager and played "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and would stand in the back to hear the roars of laughter. Got to meet him at the CHILLER show and have both "Big Adventure" and the HBO show DVDs signed. Also got to see him on Broadway front row at the new Sondheim theater. RIP Mr Ruebens thanks for all the years of laughter.

by Anonymousreply 58July 31, 2023 7:15 PM

Loved Peewees Playhouse and still have the DVDs. So sad.

by Anonymousreply 59July 31, 2023 7:16 PM

It'll be bittersweet watching his Christmas special this year ;(

by Anonymousreply 63July 31, 2023 7:32 PM

R36, what’s creepy about it? Are you one of those people from Reddit for whom everything is CREEPY?

I get you don’t like the pp’s original question, but “creepy”? Man the fuck up and leave your hovel sometime.

by Anonymousreply 67July 31, 2023 7:39 PM

Mr. Herman, you have a telephone call.

by Anonymousreply 81July 31, 2023 9:14 PM

Who was the blond surfer boy (clad only in a speedo) he featured early in the run? I always heard he was a gay porn star. By the next season he was wearing a t-shirt. I don't recall him in later episodes.

by Anonymousreply 82July 31, 2023 9:15 PM

People are starting to whack off at Barbie in masse in his honor

by Anonymousreply 83July 31, 2023 9:19 PM

OP, you broke the news first, even before Paul’s wiki was updated. Sincere question: were you a close friend of his, and did he ask you to do the Oppenheimer joke? I can totally see him coming up with it.

by Anonymousreply 95July 31, 2023 11:45 PM

I hope we learn what he was wearing when he died. I also need to know his net worth and if he loved his mother.

by Anonymousreply 133August 4, 2023 10:35 PM

It's so sad that he was never able to over come his weight issues. Even as a top.

I am genuinely curious: was Paul ever a DL'er? I could see it.

by Anonymousreply 137August 4, 2023 11:02 PM

Paul certainly deserved props for his comedy chops and the classy way he went out. But… Didn’t he also leave some ugly situations in his wake of those who created the characters he took credit for (particularly Phil Hartman and John Paragon), as well as a history of stiffing producers and directors who he had also abandoned?

There were definitely quarrels with Paragon , who I think was romantically involved with Herman for a spell. Still.....

Paragon died on April 3, 2021, at his home in Palm Springs, California, at the age of 66. His cause of death was heart disease and chronic alcoholism. News of his death was not made public until June 18 of that year. He was cremated and his ashes were in the possession of Cassandra Peterson until they were interred at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on November 15, 2022. His urn is "a perfectly crafted depiction" of the purple-and-gold Jambi the Genie box.

by Anonymousreply 144August 5, 2023 11:10 PM

R144 I wondered if they were together because of how incredibly in sync they were during their improvs and having the the same silly weirdness. They were almost too much alike, more like best friends or siblings than boyfriends.

We never really got him over here, so I was reading up on him and was surprised to hear he got arrested for wanking in an adult theatre.

Isn’t that what they’re for? That’s like arresting someone for buying food in a supermarket.

by Anonymousreply 151August 6, 2023 5:41 PM

R149 I asked because I was curious. Why are you so bothered?

by Anonymousreply 152August 7, 2023 9:19 AM

It's Florida, R151. Things are wacky down there.

by Anonymousreply 153August 7, 2023 2:21 PM

R153 True. I just find the concept of sitting in an adult theatre, watching porn while remaining fully clothed just seems a bit like a waste of time. Maybe some people get something out of it, though.

by Anonymousreply 154August 8, 2023 11:19 AM

In the days before home video, it was really the only way to see explicit porn, R154. What I didn't get was Reubens or anyone else still going to a porn theater in the early '90s, unless they were looking for a hook-up.

by Anonymousreply 155August 8, 2023 9:58 PM

Gays still went to porno theaters, sometimes just to see porn without having to actually buy it and keep it home. Other went for the possibly of a hook up. I would go on occasion until the early 2000s.
