An 8-year-old boy from Vancouver, Washington, who had been missing for months has been found safe nearly 1,800 miles away from home in Missouri.
Breadson John was reported missing last June after Vancouver Police Department conducted a welfare check and could not locate the boy, KIRO reported.
Detectives tried to contact Breadson’s family, who would not tell police where the boy was.
His grandparents were listed as his guardians, WDAF reported.
The FBI was called in and issued a missing persons alert last month and found out that Breadson had been taken across the country to Missouri in August, KIRO reported.
Last week, FBI Kansas City and Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies, acting on a tip from FBI agents in Seattle, found Breadson, who also goes by Brxsan, WDAF reported.
Breadson was recovered and was in the custody of Missouri’s Department of Social Services as Washington Child Protective Services staff traveled to Kansas City to return him to his home state, The Columbian reported.
Vancouver police charged Breadson’s grandparents in December with custodial interference and were considered persons of interest in a criminal investigation, according to KIRO.
